The Fellowship Programme is a technical cooperation instrument and is one of the most effective means by which Member States can prepare staff to develop and strengthen their health services. The programmes, which are supported by PAHO,
are done so within the framework of the policy of the health sector. The Ministry of Health, based on their technical priorities therefore selects candidates for the programme through its National Fellowships Committee. The Representation in Jamaica has been actively involved in the administration and supervision
of the Fellowships Programme. There has been a steady increase in the number of fellows from the region who come to study in Jamaica. This can be attributed to the fact that a number of excellent training opportunities exist in Jamaica for the development of human resources in health. Fellows awarded to professionals from the following countries are currently pursuing various courses in
Jamaica; Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Montserrat, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines and Turks & Caicos Islands. |
